A. Troy Hammond

A. Troy Hammond of Van Wert died at 12:55 PM Friday July 5, 2013 at Van Wert County Hospital.

He was born in Van Wert on October 14, 1967. He is survived by his mother, Judy Bowers of Van Wert and his father and step-mother, Jim and Treva Hammond of Convoy.

Also surviving is his son, Justin Hammond, his pride and joy,two sisters, Nikki (Ben) Beougher of Convoy and Mary Jo Hammond (Dave Taylor) of Van Wert. Also surviving are two stepsisters, Carmen (Jason) Hefner and Cicely Gasvoda and a stepbrother, Dominic Eddins and Marcia and Dale Davies, wonderful aunt and uncle who were always there for Troy. He is also survived by nephews Benjamin Beougher and Preston Hammond and nieces LaNae Beougher and Alexia Taylor. Also special friends Dave and Becky Martz.

Troy was preceded in death by a brother, Lee, Paternal Grandparents: Curt & Edith (Hertel) Hammond and Maternal Grandparents: Lowe & Mary (Leaser) Agler.

Troy was a graduate of Crestview Schools and Wright State University. He had formerly worked as a hydraulic lab technician for Commercial Intertech Corporation in Hicksville, OH. He also belonged to the Convoy United Methodist Church.

He was more than just a father, uncle, son and brother but a great friend to all who knew him and a wonderful person who had been through a lot and yet could keep a positive attitude even when others had given up. He was an organ recipient in life and in death he chose to be an organ donor. God has taken a wonderful soul home and he will be missed every day.

Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert with Rev. Gregg Leigh officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery Van Wert. Friends may call Wednesday July 10, 2013 from 2 till 8:00 PM at Brickner Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to services on Thursday.

Preferred memorials may be made on behalf of his son Justin.
