Albert L. "Jim" Hammond went to see the Lord and his beloved son, Troy on July 25, 2013.
He was born on August 10, 1945 the son of the late Curt and Edith (Hertel) Hammond. He is survived by his wife Treva (Adams), two Daughters: Nikki (Ben) Beougher of Convoy and MaryJo Hammond (Dave Taylor) of Van Wert. 2 Step-Daughters: Carmen (Jason) Heffner of Convoy and Cicely Gasvoda of Fort Wayne, and a Step-Son Dominic Eddins of Van Wert.
He is also survived by 5 grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Benjamin and LaNae Beougher of Convoy, Lexi Taylor and Preston and Justin Hammond of Van Wert. Also surviving are 4 Step Grandchildren who he loved dearly: Nevada and Savannah Smith of Convoy, Bria Godsey and Kennedy Gasvoda.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved son Troy just 20 days prior to his own death. A sister, Mary Pissaro and brothers Sam and Orville Hammond also preceded him in death.
He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and husband. He loved to help others and was a great friend to all who knew him. He was a foreman and supervisor at Teleflex for more than 30 years. He especially enjoyed doing carpentery and making things for others. He will be greatly missed.
His son Troy was an organ recipient and also a donor in death and likewise Jim also chose to be an organ donor.
Jim was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Van Wert American Legion Post 178 and a member of Convoy United Methodist Church.
Services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Brickner Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Leigh officiating. Calling will be Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Brickner Funeral Home from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday. Burial will be in I O O F Cemetery Convoy. Military graveside services will be in charge of the combined Honors Unit of American Legion Post 178 and V F W Post 5803. Memorials to donors choice.
