84, of Van Wert, died at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at Hearth & Home Assisted Living in Van Wert.
He was born January 30, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Andrew H. and Emily (Odiorne) Brown. On October 25, 1945, in Lyon, France, he married Josette M. Brown, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Brown was a telegraph operator for the former New York Central Railroad and then owned his own barbershop on East Main Street in Va Wert. He retired as an employee of Kennedy Manufacturing Company in Van Wert. He was a U.S. Army veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict, a life member of American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert and a member of the Van Wert Amateur Radio Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Daniel L. (Cheryl) Brown and Dennis Brown, both of Van Wert; a niece, Alice Flagg of Winthrop, Maine, ad a nephew Frank Lienthal of Jonesport, Maine.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Robert and William Brown, and a sister, Alice Lienthal.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, where military committal services will be performed by the combined honor units of Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Health Professionals-Hospice and the Alzheimer's Association.
