Anne S. Dunn

March 15, 1923 — October 5, 2011

Anne S. (Savage) Dunn, 88, of Van Wert, died at 8:04 am Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert, OH.

Anne was the daughter of John and Ada Kanaly Savage. She was born March 15, 1923 in Birmingham, Michigan. She was the tenth of eleven children. She is survived by her brother, Phil (Sally) Savage of Canton, MI; Sons Paul (Karen) of East Bridgewater, Mass, and Dave and Tom of Columbus, OH; Grandchildren, Michael, Alex and Sara.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Dunn, Jr.

Founding members of the Van Wert Civic Theatre, Anne & Paul and their three sons were very active in VWCT's productions over the years. Anne was an award winning actor, stage technician, and recipient of the prestigious VWCT Trustees Award for the 1987-1988 season. She was a member of the play reading committees and heavily involved in annual VWCT membership drives.

One of her great passions was travel. She frequently visited California, The West, Boston & Cape Cod. There were also Caribbean cruises, visits to the Canadian Rockies, The Bahamas, Italy, England and Ireland.

Her greatest passion was her family and their holiday traditions. That potato salad is still the best! Anne had a great and memorable sense of humor, was quick-witted and always to the point. She was blessed with a sharp memory, and could be counted on to draw accurate comparisons between today and yesteryear. Her life was full of love and concern for her fellow humans, and that is why she will be so fondly remembered.

There will be a Resurrection Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, OH on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 12:00 pm, with Fr. Stan Szybka officiating. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Catholic Relief Services.
