Betty S. Jones

Betty S. Jones, 90, of Van Wert, Ohio, passed away December 15, 2010 at Van Wert County Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born December 27, 1919 to F. Earl and Clo (Harting) Shaffer. She married Everett Jones of Venedocia on September 8, 1944. She was preceeded in death by her husband, and an infant son, Michael Alan, and her sister, Margaret (John) Maney.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann (David) Rees of Van Wert, three grandchildren, Alan (Mandi) Rees of West Chester, Ohio, Jodi (Jeff) Fuller of Bellbrook, Ohio, and Sarah (Joe) Consiglio of Evergreen Park, IL. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Rees, Nick, Liam & Mia Fuller, and, Anthony and Charlotte Consiglio, and several nieces and nephews.

She was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, where she was a member of Ruth Ester circle, a deaconess, and Sunday School teacher.

She worked at Central Insurance in the forties, and WERT Radio in the seventies. She was an emeritus Twig I member. In her retirement years, she spent her time helping friends and family, and, was an inspiration to everyone who met her.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with her nephew, Rev. Dr. John Kevin Maney officiating. Burial will be in Venedocia Cemetery in Venedocia.

Calling hours are from 10:00 a.m. until service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18, at the funeral home.
