Bonnie Isabel (Adam) Wallace

July 18, 1921 — April 18, 2020

Bonnie Isabel (Adam) Wallace, most recently residing at Wesley Glen in Columbus, Ohio, but formerly of Van Wert County, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2020, at Wesley Glen Retirement Community in Columbus, Ohio, after a short illness.

Bonnie was born July 18, 1921 in Jackson Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, to George A. and Nellie C. (Tuohy) Adam.  She graduated from Hoaglin Jackson High School in 1939, with 10 of the 20 members of her high school class living to see their 90th. birthdays.  She graduated from the University of Toledo in 1943.  Bonnie married Harold L. Wallace December 26, 1948.  She retired as a teacher from the Lincolnview Schools in 1980.  Over her many years of service, she taught Home Economics, Latin, 5th. grade, and lastly, her favorite and most  rewarding years, were with special needs students.  She loved to travel  and was a seamstress, gardener, excellent cook, and a good listener.  Bonnie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Van Wert which she joined in 1949 and was active in the Martha Ruth Group of the Womens' Ministries of the Church.  She was a lifetime member of the Van Wert County Genealogical Society, and for many years starting in 1983, she had indexed the obituaries published in the Van Wert Times-Bulletin making them available for easy reference.  She was also a member of the Isaac Van Wert Chapter of the DAR, the Van Wert County Retired Teachers Association, and the Hoaglin-Jackson Sunrise Club.

She was loved by her family and friends, "A Bushel and a Peck, and a Hug Around the Neck".

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, George, who died July 25, 1925, her mother Nellie, who died December 2,1979, and her husband Harold, who died April 7, 2004.  She had one brother, George Clayton Adam, who died in 2001 and one sister-in-law, Norma, who died in 2017.

Surviving are three sons;  Richard (Marilyn) Wallace of Marion, Ohio; Dr. Phillip (Sherrie) Wallace of Temple, Texas; and Stephen (Sylvia) Wallace of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Dr. Darrell Wallace of Youngstown, Ohio; Dr. Heather Wallace (Ravi) Misra of Carmel, IN; Luke (Carloyn) Wallace of Carrollton. Texas; Joseph (Michelle) Wallace of Leander, Texas; Timothy Wallace (Scott Schmidt) of Houston, Texas; Amanda Wallace (Tyler)  Greenwood of Beavercreek, Ohio: Brooke Wallace of Columbus, Ohio; and Tracey (Andrew Karlson) of Atwater, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren: Elliot Wallace of Youngstown, Ohio; Lauren Wallace of Leander, Texas; and Dominic Greenwood and Sydney Greenwood of Beavercreek, Ohio.  Also surviving are four nephews, George Adam, Donald Adam, Bruce Adam, and Brian Adam all of Van Wert County.

Due to the restrictions imposed as a result of the current global pandemic, there will be no public services held at this time.

In memory of Bonnie and her husband, Harold, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
