Clarence John Klausing

Clarence John Klausing of Van Wert passed away peacefully at his residence at 7:10 PM Sunday May 8, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born August 27, 1926 in Ottovile, OH to Alyous J. & Margaret Matilda (Wurst) Klausing both of whom are deceased. He married Jean Arlene (Bennett) on April 5, 1969 and she survives him at Vancrest Nursing Home in Van Wert.

From his first marriage to the late Viola (Campbell) Schaffner, there are three surviving children, Robert E. Klausing, Linda Marie (Klausing) Mitchell, and Daniel Richard (Kelly) Klausing all of Van Wert.

Also surviving is a step-daughter, Barbara Jean (Harrison) Arnold of Van Wert.

Grandchildren include: Kari (Clyde) Thatcher of Van Wert, Kelly (the late Brent) Cheney of Convoy, Kristy (Klausing) Barnes of Columbus, OH, Eric A. Metzger and Jason Mitchell of Van Wert, Frank (Klausing) Loske of Kansas City, MO. Les (Ginger) Klausing of Thomasville, NC.,Dusty (Ashley) Klausing of Clearwater, FL., Derek (Stephanie) Klausing of Landolakes, FL., Danielle (Bradley) Barker of Van Wert, Calvin W. Hasty of Wichita Falls, TX., Jeannette (Steve) Hoehn of Ft. Jennings,OH., Wesley J. Hasty of Wichita Falls, TX., Tyla (Tony) Mason of Van Wert, Robert A. Arnold lll of Ashville NC., and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Lavern H. (Lois) Klausing of Van Wert.

He was preceded in death by 6 brothers: Ervin, Ernest, Robert, Elmer, Paul, and Fred Klausing.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. He was an employee of Bordens Cheese for 40 years following which he worked at Woodland Cemetery for 14 years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church Van Wert with Father Mike Zacharias officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery Van Wert.
