Cletus Dale Stripe

Cletus "Dale" Stripe, 90, of Van Wert died at 5:55 PM Tuesday, April 15, at Vancrest Healthcare Center.  He was born October 3, 1923, in Van Wert the son of Cletus and Norma (Gribler) Stripe.  On June 14, 1947 he married Marie (Louagie) who preceded him in death December 3, 2009.

He is survived by his children:  Theresa (Jim) Beard and Fran (Steve) White both of Van Wert, Marcia (David) Wright of Sylvania, OH, Dennis (Diane) Stripe of Mahwah, NJ, Fr. Keith Stripe of Maumee, Ohio, and Katherine (Robert) Howard of Westerville, OH.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Bill Stripe and 2 sisters Harriet Pearson and Phyllis Ashbaugh.

Mr. Stripe was a carpenter and home builder.

He is a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 178, and was an Army Air Force Veteran of WW II.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 22 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Keith Stripe officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery where military graveside rites will be given by the combined Honors Unit of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803.

Friends may call at Brickner Funeral Home from 2 - 8 Monday, April 21, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 8:00 PM.

Preferred Memorials are to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
