David Shupe

Dave Shupe, age 75, of Van Wert died at 4:29 PM Sunday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.  He was born on May 4, 1940 in Van Wert to Raymon and Myrtle (Mohler) Shupe both of whom are deceased.  On April 8, 1966 he married Linda (Simon) who survives him.

Also surviving are a son: John (Paula) Shupe of Lebanon, OH and a daughter, Lisa (John) Saunier of Springboro, Ohio, and 5 grandchildren,  Derek,  Drew and Evan Saunier and Felicity and Jonah Shupe.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers,  Robert and Leonard Shupe.

He was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Van Wert and American Legion Post 178.  He was a 1959 graduate of Van Wert High School.  He was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1963.  He was an avid fan of the Van Wert Cougars and the Ohio State Buckeyes.  Some of the things he enjoyed was spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing golf and traveling.

He was employed for 16 years at International Harvester in Fort Wayne and 23 years in the Van Wert City Schools maintanance department.

Visitaion will be Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Brickner Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 16, 2015 at St. Marks Lutheran Church with Pastor Will Haggis ll officiating.

Burial will be in Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery with military rites by the combined Honors Unit of American Legion Post 178 and V. F. W. Post 5873 of Van Wert.

Preferred Memorials are to St. Marks Lutheran Church.
