Dolores M. Krol

Dolores M. Krol, 89, of Van Wert, died at 2:10 PM Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice. She was born May 16, 1925, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late John and Cecelia (Bucholtz) Matres. On October 1, 1949 she was united in marriage with Alfons A. Krol who preceded her in death May 13, 1999.

She is survived by 4 sons: John A. Krol of Van Wert, Charles J. Krol of American Canyon, CA., Mathew j. Krol of Chicago, IL, Christopher M. (Gina) Krol of Burlington, VT, 8 grandchildren Lisa M. (Ron) Schomaeker of Paulding, Jason A. (Niki) Krol of Decatur, IN, Joshua J. Krol, Davis CA, Emily A. Krol, Adam A. Krol, and Jeremy P. Krol all of Burlington, VT,Paul D. Krol of Columbus, Ohio, Christina Skinner, Davis CA. 4 great-grandchildren Baily Krol of Van Wert, Shayla Schomaeker of Paulding, Macy and Dodger Krol of Decatur, IN. She was a sister-in-law to the late John Cardinal Krol.

She was preceded in death by her son David A. Krol, brother Leonard Matres, and sisters Mary Matres and Genevieve Teodecki.

Dolores had a BS Degree in Nutrition and was employed by J L Hudson in their Detroit store in Dietary Services and as Mezzanine Restaurant Manager from 1947-49 then served as Director Of Patient Nutritional Planning at Garfield Heights Hospital from 1949-50.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church- was a former member of the Pastoral Council of the church-member of the Altar-Rosary Society- Catholic Ladies of Columbia- the Church Choir- the former St. Marys Dinner and Bridge Group- Welcome Wagon- Meals on Wheels- Van Wert Womans Club- active in a bowling league- was a St. Marys School Lunch Assistant-member of Van Wert County Hospital Twig II for 46 years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 10;30 AM At St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Stan Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 6 Tuesday, May 27, at Brickner Funeral Home where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM.
