Ernest Elsworth DeCamp, 96, of Grover Hill, passed away at 9:20 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011, at Vancrest Healthcare Center of Van Wert.
He was born in Latty Township in Paulding County, Ohio, June 25, 1915, to Joseph Frank and Susan (Gattshall) DeCamp who both preceded him in death. On March 10, 1940, in Mt. Eaton, OH, he married Hazel C. Mosier of rural Middle Point, OH, who preceded him in death on January 3, 1997.
He was a lifetime farmer in Latty Township and had worked at the Continental Can Company in Van Wert. He was a member of the Paulding County Farm Bureau and the Ohio Farmer's Union.
He is survived by a son, Roger (Nancy) DeCamp of Grover Hill; two daughters, Marilyn (Paul) Hoehn of Ottoville and Diana DeCamp of Grover Hill; Three grandsons, Larry (Patti) Hoehn of Burlison, TN, Steve (Jeannette) Hoehn of Ottoville, and David (Heather) DeCamp of San Antonio, TX; A great-grandson, Cody Hoehn; Four step great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Bill Cook, Kristi Hasty, and Lauren Calvert; and a brother, Andrew (Joyce) DeCamp of Grover Hill.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William DeCamp and Warren DeCamp and nine sisters, Sarah Grunden, Esther Miller, Dellie Pucket, Ethel Long, Bessie Price, Grace Mosier, Lucy Adams, Velma DeCamp and Florence Daniel.
Visitation will be held at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, OH on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be at Brickner Funeral Home on Thursday, September 22, 2011, at 10:30am with Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Interment will be at Middle Creek Cemetery in Grover Hill, OH.
