77, of Van Wert, died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
He was born May 18, 1931, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late George I. and Stella May (Emans) Height. On November 4, 1950, he married S. Janette Height, who survives.
Mr. Height retired as superintendent of Woodland Cemetery in 1996 after 22 years. He was a 1949 graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School and first worked at the Farm Bureau grain elevator. In 1951, he went to work for Borden Foods, leaving in 1973 as personnel manager. He most recently attended Antioch Chapel Church in Van Wert and Tenth Street Baptist Church in Palmetto, Fla.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Terry (Bonnie) Height of Wabash, Ind., and Mark (Anna) Height of Longboat Key, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jesse (Stephanie) Height of Wabash, Ind., Aaron (Lisa) Height of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Ashley (Ben) Robinson of Pierceton, Ind.; four great-grandchildren, Nathan Height, Brody Height, Hailey Height and Lily Robinson; a sister-in-law, Erma Height of Van Wert; and several nieces and nephews.
Ten brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 16, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. James Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Visitation is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wee Care Day Care Center or The Salvation Army.
