Gerald E. Richey, age 70, of Van Wert died at 8:10 PM Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne, IN. He was born March 3, 1945 in Fort Wayne, a son of George R. and Virginia M.(Kemerly) Richey, who are both deceased. On January 6, 1968 he married Monica (Schaadt) who preceded him in death.
He is survived by sons, Sheridan Richey of Columbus, OH, Jared (Cindy) Richey of Columbus, OH, Adam Richey of Antwerp, OH, and Patrick Richey of Van Wert, and a daughter, Molly (Trevor) Berryman of Van Wert. Also surviving are grandchildren, Nick, Abby, Brian, Catlyn, Grace, Hanna, Zack, Holly and a great grandchild, Oliver. He is also survived by a sister, Gwen Woods and 2 brothers, Bob Richey of Rockford and Dave Richey of Van Wert. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bridget Richey, and a brother, Joseph Richey.
He was employed at Federal Mogul National Seal for over 40 years. He had been a member of the Outdoorsman Club and really enjoyed fishing and hunting. For many years he had volunteered at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Van Wert.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday June 30 in Brickner Funeral Home with Father Stanley Syzbka officiating. The family will be present at the funeral home on Monday, June 29 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM to receive friends and relatives. Burial will be in Van Wert Woodland Cemetery immediately following services.
