68, of Cavett, died early Sunday evening, June 21, 2009, at his residence.
He was born February 13, 1941, in his grandmother's home in Haviland, the son of the late John and Madeline (Rodman) (Ignatius) Palte. On October 28, 1961, he married Judy (Davis) Comer, who survives.
Mr. Comer was retired from General Dynamics in Lima. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 6034, both in Van Wert. He loved farming and spending time with his grandchildren and was also active in the Democratic Party.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four children, Paul E. (Beverly) Comer of Jones, Mich., Julie (Doug) Voisard of Otsego, Mich., Robin (Eugene) Patton of Napoleon and Matthew (Jennifer) Comer of Wapakoneta; two brothers, Russel (Judy) Comer of Grover Hill and Timothy Palte of Haviland; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A sister, who died in infancy, also preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Michael Zacharias officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery near Grover Hill.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a Rosary service will be held following visitation.
Memorial contributions: St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School in Van Wert or the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Van Wert.
