84, of Van Wert, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at his residence.
He was born April 2, 1924, in Wapakoneta, the son of the late David and Caroline (Lunz) Presar. On June 30, 1962, he married Barbara (Quisno) Presar, who survives in Van Wert.
Howie was self-employed and operated several Laundromats in northwest Ohio. He also owned Howie's Carpet Cleaning and cleaned many of the carpets in Van Wert County. Howie was a hard-working family man who loved to play music. In his youth, he played violin, with his father calling square dances in Wapakoneta. As a young man, he joined the George Bundy Band and played guitar throughout northwest Ohio. He achieved one of his dreams when he retired in Florida, where he regularly played music with many of his new friends.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Debbie (Tony) Steinmetz, Cathy (J.R.) Ebel and Julie Presar Quinn; one brother, Melvin Presar, in California; three grandchildren, Erick Ebel, Patrick Quinn and Georgina Quinn; and a great-grandchild, Chanse Ebel.
Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, September 29, at First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Dr. Ed Jillson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive visitors from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Health Professionals-Hospice or First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert.
