Jane E. Oakley

80, of Middle Point, Ohio, died at 2:40 p.m. Thursday, December 07, 2006, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.

She was born June 17, 1926, in Paulding County Ohio, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Pearl (Saum) Scarbrough.

Mrs. Oakley was a homemaker. She was also a member of the former Black Swamp CB Club and National Threshers Women and had been active as a blood courier for the Van Wert County Chapter of the American Red Cross. She enjoyed crocheting, her flowers and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Ruby B. (Mary Ann) Oakley of Grover Hill; one daughter, Judy P. (Orville L.) Hammond of Van Wert; a brother, Bob (Rose) Scarbrough of Grover Hill; five grandchildren, Jane Taylor and Gary (Samantha) Oakley, both of Van Wert, Stephanie (Jerry) Hare of Willshire, Alma (Matt) Powell of Ottawa, Miss., and Tracy (Jeremy) Priest of Pittsfield, Ill.; four stepgrandchildren, Tina Hammond, Eric Hammond and Megan Girod, all of Van Wert, and Neil (Sonya) Hammond of Ohio City; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A brother, Frank Scarbrough, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Van Wert County.

Visitation is from 2-7 p.m. Monday, December 11, at the funeral home.
