Joann B. Unterbrink

age 78, of Van Wert, died at 11:08 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2006, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born December 9, 1927, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late William and Pearl (Waterman) Becker. On May 7, 1949, she married Alphonse C. "Al" Unterbrink, who died May 16, 1994.

Mrs. Unterbrink was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert and was a longtime member of the church choir and a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She also belonged to the Ridge Progressive Club and was a longtime member and secretary of the Majorette Bowling League. She was also a member of the Towns of Harmony Sweet Adelines Chorus.

Survivors include four sons, Michael W. (Frances) Unterbrink of Los Molinos, Calif., Gary L. Unterbrink of Zagreb, Croatia, Jeffrey C. (Diane) Unterbrink of Bourbon, Ind., and Brent J. Unterbrink of Van Wert; a daughter, Catherine J. (Kraig) Buschor of Van Wert; two sisters, Jean Didier of Biloxi, Miss., and Marcia Stevens of Decatur, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Janet Becker of Van Wert; 13 grandchildren, Lorna (Ken) Johnson, Austin (Eileen) Unterbrink, Jennifer Unterbrink, Nathalie Unterbrink, Michael (Jessica) Hall, Jamie Hall, Theresa Hall, Arthur Wickersham, Mollie Pope, Allie Pope, Caleb Pope, Onna Buschor and Alexander Unterbrink; and three great-grandchildren, Jamison, Chantel and Evan Hall. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Becker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Viewing hours are from 2-8 p.m. at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a Rosary service will be held at 8 that evening.
