John "Jack" Paullus, age 90 of Van Wert died at 2:59 AM Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Vancrest Healthcare Center in Van Wert. He was born March 29,1929 in Van Wert the son of the late John and Ruth (Lloyd) Paullus. On September 6, 1952 he married the former Jean Brickner and she preceded him in death on January 26, 2014.
He is survived by his children Jeff (Trudy) Paullus of Gallatin, TN- Joi (Paul) Mergy of Van Wert- Joe (Jessica) Paullus of Noblesville, IN. Grandchildren Alek (Mandy) Mergy- Kathryn Wilson- Jason Paullus- Anthony Gober. Great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Aust - Maddison Mergy- Greyson Mergy.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Paullus and a sister Hannah Good.
Jack was the purchasing manager for the former Van Wert Borden's Cheese Plant in Van Wert and then was employed by the former People's Bank.
He was widely known throughout the Ohio and Indiana Theater Community as an accomplished actor and director. He was a founding member of the Van Wert Civic Theater and Past President of the Ohio Community Theater Association. He founded Stage Coach Dinner Theater and over his career acted in and directed over 150 theater productions.
There will be visitation at Brickner Funeral Home Monday, July 15, 2019 from 10 - 11 followed by interment at Woodland Cemetery. Immediately following the internment there will be a Celebration of Life for Jack at the Van Wert Elks Lodge located on 1 Elks Drive and Business US 224 West.
In lieu of flowers preferred memorials would be to the Van Wert Civic Theater or to the Van Wert Humane Society.
