82, of Van Wert, Ohio, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2006, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.
He was born May 14, 1924, in Van Wert County Ohio, the son of the late Robert Abner and Laura (Grant) Thomas.
Mr. Thomas retired from Weatherhead Corporation in Antwerp Ohio. He was an Army Verteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert.
In addition to his wife, Robin (Hammond) Thomas, other survivors include three sons, John Edwin (Lucy) Thomas Jr. of Manchester Indiana; Richard (Amanda) Thomas of Van Wert Ohio; Robert and (Jennifer) Thomas of Paulding Ohio; one sister, Mary (Glen) Donnel of Florida; one brother, Peter (Ezzy) Thomas of Van Wert Ohio; 17 Grandchildren, Daniel, Shawn, Alisha, Jennifer, Jessie, Jacob, Casey, Patrick, Alexandria, Andrea, Eric, Andrew, robert, Courtney, Zachary, Johnathon, Kiersten; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Phillips) Thomas; four brothers, Russell, Charles, thomas, and James Thomas; one grandson; Steven.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, at the funeral home, with the John Edwin Thomas Jr. officiating.
Visitation is from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, at the funeral home.
