Joseph Carlton Richey

Joseph Carlton Richey, 68, of Ohio City, died at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2012 at his residence.

He was born January 26, 1944, in Memphis, TN, the son of the late George and Virginia (Kemerley) Richey.

He was a graduate of Lincolnview High School. Joseph was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post 346 in Ohio City and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 in Van Wert. He was a loving father, and grandfather and will be missed.

Survivors include a daughter, Joanna Lynn-Richey (Stanley Alvin) Cilwa; two grandchildren, Kurtice and Austin Cilwa; four siblings, Gwen (Paul) Woods, Gerald Richey, Robert Richey, David (Brenda) Richey; a companion, Joan Lockhart; nieces and nephews, Sandy (Kreischer) Smith, Gary Kreischer, Rich Kreischer, Anne (Woods) Shellenbager, Robert L. Richey, Cassandra K. Richey, Molly (Richey) Berryman, Patrick Richey, Sheridan Richey, Adam Richey, and Jared Richey; A special great niece Olivia Woods-Hopper; and a very loyal Beagle Wendy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law, Monica Richey and a niece, Bridget Richey.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 8, at First Church of God, 314 S. Harrison St, Van Wert, with the Rev. Jay Watts officiating. Burial will be in Lehman Cemetery in Payne, OH, with graveside military rites performed by American Legion Post 346 of Ohio City.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, at Brickner Funeral Home, and 1 hour prior to funeral service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family for his grandsons college fund.
