Joseph W. Routt

Joseph W. Routt, age 96, of Van Wert passed away at 7:16 PM Friday, December 23, 2016 at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Van Wert on July 9, 1920, a son of Joseph & Mary (Tumbleson) Routt, neither of whom survive.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Gardner of Violet, Louisiana, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph W. Routt Jr., BROTHERS: Robert, Frank, Fred Routt, and Ralph Davis, 2 SISTERS: Roxie Grieshaber and Helen Taylor.
He was an Army veteran of World War 2 and was a life member of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, December 29, 2016 with Rev. Greg Wack officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with graveside rites by the combined honors unit of VFW Post 5803 and American Legion Post 178. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to time of service on Thursday at Brickner Funeral Home .
