Joyce Ann Pope Talton

Joyce Ann Pope Talton, age 68, died at her home on Sunday, September 18, 2005.

She was born January 28, 1937 to Edgar T. and Daphne Jones Pope in Wilson, NC., both of whom are deceased.

On March 21, 1955, she married Horace M. (Mac) talton who survives. Also surviving are their four children: Pamela J. (Craig) Rethwilm of Kennesaw, GA.; Paula T. (Paul) Caldwell of Harrisonburg, VA.; Phil M. Talton of Duluth, GA.; Allison N. Talton at home. They also have one grandson who survives, Devin M. Talton of Duluth, GA.

Joyce made friends easily because she was always giving care to whomever she met. She was quick to notice a need and then did her best to fill that need. She took great delight in her flower and vegetable gardens and was quick to share their beauty and bounty. Throughout her adult life Joyce demonstrated God's love to her and hers to Him through her activites in the life of hte church. She especially enjoyed teaching children, singing as a soloist and chori member, directing Vacation Bible Schools, visiting those who were sick or shut-in, and creating floral arrangements for the altar.

Joyce was one of four children. Her siblings survive her: sister, Janice (Jesse) Williams of Wilson, NC.; brother, Jerry (Eunice) Pope of Thomasville, NC.; brother, Don (Georgia) Pope of Four Oaks, NC.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22, at the First Baptist Church in Van Wert, OH., with the Pastor Steve A. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Viewing hours are 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends. Friends may also call at the First Baptist Church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. till the time of service.
