Kenneth M. Brake, Jr. , age 94, of Van Wert passed away at 9:11 AM Monday, January 8, 2018 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice. He was born November 17, 1923 in Pittsburgh PA a son of Kenneth M. & Bessie Mae (Lou) Brake, Sr. both of whom are deceased. On November 7, 1947 he married Dorothy Allemeir and she died December 16, 1997.
He is survived by a son, Larry Lee (Colleen) Brake of Spokane WA and a daughter, Kendra Rider of Van Wert. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tracey, Trisha, Casey, Erin, Kiley and Amber, and 6 great grand children.
A son, Roger Brake is deceased.
Mr. Brake was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years. Following that he was employed by the Wee Care Day Care Center. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WW 11, a life member of Van Wert American Legion Post 148, and a member of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid golfer.
The family will receive visitors at Brickner Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 2:00 PM till 6:00 PM. A service including military honors will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Ron Lumm, American Legion Post 178 and V. F. W. Post 5803.
