Marie Laura Stripe

85, of Van Wert, died at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was born April 23, 1924, in Allen County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Emile and Julie (Deruytter) Louagie. On Saturday, June 14, 1947, she married C. Dale Stripe, who survives in Van Wert.

Mrs. Stripe was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, as well as its Altar Rosary Society and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.

In addition to her husband, survivors include six children, Theresa (James) Beard and Fran (Steve) White, both of Van Wert, Marcia (David) Wright of Sylvania, Dennis (Diane) Stripe of Mahwah, N.J., Father Keith Stripe of Maumee and Katherine (Robert) Howard of Springboro, Tenn.; two sisters, Lena Miller of Landeck and Mary Alice Louagie of Van Wert; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Four brothers, Joe, Richard, Paul and Maurice Louagie, and two sisters, Laura Louagie and Pauline Garmyn, also preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 7, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Keith Stripe, Father Mike Zacharias and Father William Rose officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, December 6, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a parish rosary service will be held at 8 that evening.
