Patricia Anne Hoghe, 77, of Van Wert died Monday, December 17, 2012, at 7:10 am at Ashton Creek Health & Rehabilitation in Ft. Wayne, IN.
She was born on October 7, 1935, to the late Jacob W. and Regina (Werling) Schaeper. On August 1, 1953, Patricia married Nathan L. Schaadt, who preceded her in death in November 1962. She married Carl F. Hoghe on May 1, 1965, and he preceded her in death on January 23, 2009.
Patricia worked as an original data processor at the former National Seal Co. in Van Wert, where she retired. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert and volunteered preparing event meals. Also, she enjoyed crocheting, refinishing antiques and hosting the family Thanksgiving dinner. Pat volunteered at VanCrest Healthcare Center and distributed Holy Communion at Van Wert area nursing homes.
She is survived by her 4 children, Tom (Sandy) Schaadt of Westerville, OH, Teresa Venis of Bowling Green, OH, Eric Schaadt of Findlay, OH, and Carrie (Stuart) Sheets of Ft. Wayne, IN; 3 sisters, Jeanette (Jim) Moore of Ravenna, OH, Joan (Don) Allemeier of Delphos, OH, and Dorothy Vogel of Leipsic, OH; a mother-in-law, Marcille Hoghe of Van Wert; a sister-in-law, Harriet Schaadt of Ohio City, OH; 2 Brother-in-laws, Tim (Coleen) Hoghe of Van Wert and Brad (Denise) Hoghe of Columbus, OH; 8 Grandchildren, Jason (Megan) Schaadt, Jamie (Patrick Steele) Schaadt and Katie Schaadt, all of Columbus, OH, Jacob Metzger and Jeremy (Jana) Metzger, both of Bowling Green, OH, and Joel (Megan) Metzger of Tontogany, OH, Makenna and Delane Sheets, both of Ft. Wayne, IN; 3 Great-Grandchildren, Elam Metzger of Bowling Green, OH, Victoria Steele of Columbus, OH, and Leah Metzger of Tontogany, OH. Patricia is preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Grimmer; 2 Father-in-laws, Gayle Hoghe and Ervin Schaadt; and a mother-in-law, Pat Schaadt.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 20, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, where the Rosary will be recited at 8:00 pm that evening.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 21, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Stanley Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Preferred Memorials are to the American Cancer Society and St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert.
