Paul Ross

Paul Ross, age 98, of Van Wert died at 7:30 AM Sunday, May 3 at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.   He was born February 23, 1917 in Van Wert.  On July 22, 1938 he married his wife of 52 years, Ila (Inwood) Ross.  She preceded him in death November 24, 1990.

He is survived by his children:  Ron (Paulette) Ross of New Haven, IN-  Don (Arlys) Ross of Liberty Center, Ohio- Audrey (Brad) Marbaugh of Van Wert- John (Sharon) Ross of Saranac, MI- Grandchildren: Clint (Cindy) Marbaugh of Ohio City- Ginny Marbaugh, Rex (Vicki) Marbaugh, and Lisa Hundley all of Van Wert- Lora (Patrick) Wissing of Mesa, Arizona- Jennifer (Kevin) Fenn  and Patrick (Sarah) Ross both of Ft. Wayne, IN- Richard (Jenni) Ross of Harker Heights, Texas- Sara (Adam) Nelson of Chicago, IL- Rachel Smith of Coopersville, MI- Brandon (Jessamy) Ross of Utah- Amber (Russ)VanDerVellde of Saranac, MI- Alicia Ross of Maryland- Alex Ross of Holland, MI- 29 Great-Grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his mother, Vinnie Ross and a great grandchild.

Paul retired from the former Continental Can Co. after 43 years of service.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served as the Treasurer for many years of the former Hal Hunt Sunday School Class- he was the Scoutmaster of Troop 31 at First Methodist for over 20 years- the advisor of the former 4-H Wren Agricolae club for 19 years- a life member of the Van Wert Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1320-  a member and served as Treasurer of the United Mine Workers at Continental Can and also served as Treasurer of the former Convoy Grange.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Brickner Funeral Home at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Paul Miller officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.  Friends may call Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Brickner Funeral Home from 2 - 8 and on Wednesday 1 hour prior to services.

Preferred Memorials are to Boy Scout Troop 31, Van Wert Co. 4-H or a charity of the donor's choice.
