age 92, of Van Wert, died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born April 14, 1914, in Van Wert, the son of the late William and Grace (Hawkins) Wermer. He married Gladys (Rogers) Wermer, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Wermer was a self-employed plumber for many years. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Aleutian Islands and was a member of American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Charlene (Jerry) Cooper of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one brother, William (Fern) Wermer of Van Wert; three sisters, Isabelle (Karl) Schumm of Convoy, Mary (Don) Honsberger of Fostoria and Martha (James) Clark of Van Wert; and two sisters-in-law, Pauline Wermer and Bonnie Wermer.
Four brothers, Norman, John, Karl and David Wermer, and David's wife, Kathleen, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. William C. Haggis II officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the honors units of Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.
Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
