Peter Calvert

Peter Calvert, 62, of Celina, went home to be with his Lord at 11:20 PM, January 30, 2012 at home with his family at his side.
He was born on September 16, 1949 in Columbus, OH, the son of John and Eleanor (Mengert) Calvert, both of whom preceded him in death. On May 20, 1996, he married Sallyanne (Mosier) Calvert who survives in Celina.
Also surviving are a son, Casey Jones of Neptune, OH; a daughter, Michelle (David) Feltz of Columbus, OH and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Helen Mosier of Middle Point, OH.
He graduated from West High in Columbus in 1967 and attended Ohio State University. He also studied theology in Mansfield. He pastored at Neptune Baptist Church and also at Pleasant Grove in rural Mendon. He worked at AAP St. Marys Corp for several years and then became an OTR truck driver for Transport America, Eagan, MN. He team drove with his wife and together they turned a love for traveling into an income. They had been in 43 of the lower 48 states and 5 provinces of Canada.
In addition to his love of traveling in the truck with his wife, he loved to travel with family, often taking grandkids on short trips for Christmas and birthdays. His mother-in-law was often a traveling partner with them. He and his wife had also traveled with his wife's cousins on occasion. He loved to fish and had spent his last fishing outing on the Atlantic Ocean taking a charter boat out of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
He attended truckers' chapels all over the USA and when he was home attended Mt. Pleasant Church of rural Van Wert, where he was a member.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, February 3, 2012, at Mt. Pleasant Church in rural Van Wert, OH with the Rev. Bill Barnett officiating. There will be an hour viewing prior to services. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Brickner Funeral Home Van Wert from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday February 2, 2012.
Preferred memorials may be made to Grand Lake Hospice or Cancer Association of Mercer County.
