Robert Eugene Coil

age 67, of Van Wert, died at 10:57 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2005, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born April 3, 1938, in Elgin, the son of the late John and Stella (Swoveland) Coil. On March 7, 1975, he married Cuba L. Hartzog, who survives in Van Wert. Mr. Coil retired after 34 years as an over-the-road truck driver. He attended Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert.

In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons, Dusty Coil, Mark (Tina) Coil and Tracy Coil, all of Van Wert, and Kevin (Sue) Coil of Convoy; three sisters, June Wagoner of Delphos, Vivian Muether of Celina and Phyliss Coil of Tiffin; a stepson, Kenneth Michael (Marsha) Barnes of Paulding; three stepdaughters, Melody Long and Marsha V. Klosterman, both of Van Wert, and Marjean (Dave) Warren of Delphos; nine grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Mitchell Barnes and Marlen Barnes; three brothers, Carl, Junior and George Coil; a sister, Martha Coil; a grandchild, and two stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Viewing hours are from 2-8 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2006, at the funeral home.
