Robert Cooper, Sr
August 22, 1924 — December 13, 2005
age 81, of Van Wert, died at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at Van Wert Manor nursing home in Van Wert.
He was born August 22, 1924, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Hiram A. and Minnie Pearl (Crowe) Cooper. He married Frances M. Winhover, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Cooper was a lifelong farmer in Van Wert County and in Dublin Township of Mercer County. He retired from the former Continental Can Company/Sonoco plant in Van Wert after 38 years of service.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Robert (Patricia) Cooper Jr. and Richard (Kathy) Cooper, both of Van Wert; two daughters, Patricia Felger and Jeanne (Tyran) Jemison, both of Van Wert; a sister, Leona Claypool of Van Wert; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Cooper; one brother, Alva Cooper, and a grandson, Emmitt Felger.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 16, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Rick Adams officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Viewing hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 15, at the funeral home.
