Roger L. Wolford

October 24, 1943 — October 16, 2015

Roger L. Wolford, 71, of Van Wert went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a courageous 3 year battle with Leukemia.  Roger died at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center at 4:04 AM Friday, October 16, 2015.  He was born in Van Wert the son of the late Roscoe D. and Alva (Taylor) Wolford.  On July 30, 1966, he married JoAnne C. (Christy) Wolford who survives him in Van Wert.

Other survivors include his son, Roger Aaron (Kim) Wolford of Lansing, Michigan- Brothers Phil (Mary Lou) Wolford of Pueblo West, Colorado- Duane (Betty) Wolford of Van Wert- Dick Wolford of Van Wert- Fred (Pat) Wolford of Lima- Sister-in- Law Joyce Wolford of Payne Ohio- Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces, Grand Nephews, and cherished friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Conley and LeRoy Wolford and sisters Mary Ellen Corman and Rebecca Wolford.

Roger was a Design Engineer at Eaton Corporation retiring in 2001 after 36 years of service.

He was a member of the Van Wert First United Methodist Church, a member of the former St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Van Wert where he served as Senior Warden for 20 years and was also a member of the Ohio State Alumni Club of Van Wert and Paulding Co.

Roger was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps having served his country from 1961 to 1965.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, 2015, at the Van Wert First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gus Christo-Baker and Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating.  Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery with Military Rites by the combined Honors Unit of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803.

Friends may call at Brickner Funeral Home Monday October 19, 2015, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at the chuch from 9:30 AM to time of service.

Preferred Memorials are to Community Health Professionals Hospice and to James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University.
