Rosemary Schroeder was born February 19, 1924 in Millhousen, Indiana, the daughter of Bernard and Clara (Hardebeck) Blankman. On June 19, 1951, she married William C. “Bill” Schroeder who preceded her in death on November 15, 2007.
Rosemary was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, and a member of the Altar Rosary Society, a lector for years, and a volunteer choir member for funeral masses.
Rosemary taught high school for 35 years beginning at Willshire High School and the last 28 years at Lincolnview High School. After retirement in 1991, she subbed for 14 years in Van Wert County Schools.
She is also survived by three children: Marybeth (Victor) Siemens of Fort Wayne, IN; James (Sylvia) Schroeder of Bloomington, IN; and Kathleen (Glenn) Smith of Pittsburgh, PA; four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, a sister, Rita Waechter and a brother, James Blankman. She is also survived by her caregiver, Kendra German and her family.
Rosemary attended Ball State University. She helped with the World War II effort in LaPorte, Indiana as a secretary. She later returned to Ball State and graduated in 1947.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Brickner Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 PM untill 8:00 PM followed by a Rosary Service. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church with Father Stan Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in Concordia Gardens Memorial Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
