Rovena R. (Schwinnen) Wienken

Rovena R. Wienken, age 91, of Van Wert, died at 12:29 PM Friday, January 2, 2015 at Van Wert County Hospital.  She was born December 18, 1923  in Landeck, OH, a daughter of William & Anna (Grothaus) Schwinnen both of whom are deceased.  On June 7, 1947 she married Leon  J. Wienken who survives in Van Wert.

Also surviving is a son, Hubert (Karen) Wienken of Lima, a daughter, Sister Rita Wienken OSF/T of Tiffin, OH, a daughter, Mary Wienken of Van Wert, a son, Carl (Teresa) Wienken of Venedocia, a daughter, Joan  (David) Wise of Van Wert. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Paul Wienken, Dawn (Ed) Leonard, Amanda (Ken) Greenwood, and Joseph Wienken. 3 great grandchildren, Eddie, Charlie, and Jack Leonard.  She is also survived by a sister in law, Ethel Schwinnen of Landeck.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth (Wienken) Bailey and son in law Charles Bailey.

Rovena was a homemaker who helped with chores on their farm and raise the children.  She is a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert with Father Stan Syzkba officiating.  Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Sunday, January 4, 2015 with a Rosary Service at 7:30 pm.  Visitation will also be held at the funeral home 1 hour prior to services.  There will be a luncheon for family and friends following the Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Church.  Burial will take place at St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery in Landeck following the luncheon.

Preferred memorials are to St. Mary of the Assumption Church or to any other choice of the donor.
