Velma G. (Hughes) Hirsch

Velma G. Hirsch, age 92, of Van Wert passed away at 4:17 PM Monday, September 7, 2015 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice. She was born March 25, 1923 in Van Wert a daughter of William & Helen (Clouse) Hughes both of whom are deceased. Her husband, Nelson Hirsch died on January 5, 2000.
She is survived by 1 brother, Billy D. Hughes of Van Wert, a sister, Betty Lloyd of Van Wert and nieces and nephews, Sandra Dull, James Lloyd, Dan Lloyd, Angie Hughes, and Tom Hughes.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Dull.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Van Wert. For many years she was a volunteer seamstress at Van Wert County Hospital. She had also loved to chrochet and sold many of her projects to aid her church. She also was very interested in looking for and collecting indian arrow heads. She also spent a great deal of time doing gardening.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Brickner Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday prior to the funeral service.
Preferred memorials are to Trinity United Methodist Church.
