Virgil L. Beamer

83, of Van Wert, died at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2005, at Van Wert County Hospital.

He was born September 26, 1922, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Clifford Lee and Eva Lee (Tomlinson) Beamer. He married Virginia Babcock, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Beamer was a retired employee of the former Continental Can Company, with 43 years of service. He was U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Patti (Doug) Pierce of Victor, N.Y.; one sister, Helen Mardell (William) Wilcox of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three nieces, Dorothy (Paul) Silance; Deborah (Bob) Parsons and Joyce (Kent) Ellison, and two nephews, William (Angela) Wilcox Jr. and Mike Kauble.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Beamer; two sisters, Cecil Ruby Douglas and Lois Rebecca Dilbone; four brothers-in-law, Roy Douglas, John Walls, Wilbur Dilbone and Gene Kauble, and a niece, Kay Ackerman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 27, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with military graveside services performed by the combined honors unit of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.

Viewing hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
