Virginia Ann Black

72, of Van Wert, died at 3:03 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born February 15, 1937, in Delta, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Estella (Buchanan) Kolbe. She married Donald E. Black, who survives in Van Wert.

Mrs. Black was employed in secretarial work in the Van Wert City Schools, at Republic Steel and Raytheon Magnavox. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert and was active in the APA pool league for many years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include three children, Pamela L. Collins of Garrett, Ind., Steven K. (Victoria) Gribler of Brownsburg, Ind., and Ruth Ann (Bruce) Dowler of Convoy; a brother, Duane Kolbe of Wauseon; six grandchildren, Ashley Gaskill of Van Wert, Allison Collins of Garrett, Ind., Aryn Gribler of Brownsburg, Ind., and Grace Dowler, Sydney Dowler and Hayden Dowler, all of Convoy; and a great-grandchild, Cadyn Gaskill of Van Wert.

A brother, Carl Kolbe, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
