W. Everett Jones of Van Wert died at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, October 01, 2006, at Vancrest Health Care Center, in Van Wert.
He was born to the late William and Margaret (Jervis) Jones in Venedocia, Ohio. He married Betty Shaffer on September 08, 1944, she survives.
Mr. Jones was a farmer and drainage contractor. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, where he was a former Trustee and Elder. He served in World War II as a Warrant Officer from 1941 - 1946 with the 260th Combat Engineers Battalion in the European theater. He was awarded a bronze star. From 1963 - 1975 he served on the Lincolnview School Board, and from 1973 - 1985 was a Van Wert County Commissioner. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Men's Garden Club, American Legion, and a charter membr of the Venedocia Lions Club.
Survivors include Ann (David)Rees (daughter) of rural Van Wert, Sarah (Joe)Consiglio (granddaughter) of Chicago, IL, Jodi (Jeff) Fuller (granddaughter) of Dayton, OH, Alan Rees (grandson) of Cincinnati, OH, David H. Jones (brother) of Laguna Woods, CA, Frances Backensto (sister) of Laguna Woods, CA, Anthony William Consiglio (great-grandchild), Nicholas Fuller (great-grandchild), and Liam Fuller (great-grandchild). He was proceeded in death by an infant son, Michael Alan Jones, BROTHERS: Elliott, Ellis and Richard E. Jones and 2 infant brothers, SISTERS: Gladys Pugh and Ethyl Jones.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 03, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Rev. Edward W. Jillson officiating. Private famly burial will be held in the Venedocia Cemetery.
Visitation is from 11:30-1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 03, at the funeral home.
