82, of Lima, died at 10:52 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born May 26, 1926, in Van Wert, the son of the late Grover and Mary (Rhinehart) Cotterman. He first married Joanne (Sharp) Cotterman, who preceded him in death in 1975. On July 2, 1977, he married Carol A. (Condon) Cotterman, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Cotterman was retired from Lima State Hospital and Correctional Facility. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and was a life member of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert. He was a past president of the former Van Wert Eagles.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Rick L. Cotterman and Kevin B. Cotterman, both of Convoy; two daughters, Billie (Woody) Smith of Aurora, Colo., and Bobbie (William) Bolinger of Dayton; a stepson, David Condon of Lima; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Four sisters, Edna Junod, Celia Johnson, Grace Craig and Alice Ward, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 20, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be performed by the combined honors unit of Legion Post 178 and VFW Post 5803.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 18, and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at the funeral home.
