William H. Kreischer

79, of Los Lunas, N.M., and formerly of Van Wert, died January 21 at his home in Los Lunas.
He was born October 13, 1927, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Arthur and Leila (Balyeat) Kreischer. He married Ruth (Reed) Kreischer, who preceded him in death in 1992.
Mr. Kreischer was a sales manager in the automobile business in Van Wert and owned and operated his own used car business on West Main Street. Eventually, his love of horses turned a hobby into a business and he went on to train and racehorses in Ohio, Michigan and Illinois. For the past several years, he has resided in Los Lunas. He had a great appreciation of the outdoors and loved living in the Southwest. He particularly enjoyed traveling and seeing the sights of New Mexico.
Survivors include a son, Gary (Patti) Kreischer of Crete, Ill.; three daughters, Nancy (Al) Williams of Salem, Pamela (Jim) Fritchie of Champaign, Ill., and Sandra Stemerman of Ashland, Mass.; a brother, Richard (Etta) Kreischer of Van Wert; two sisters, Helen Williams of Van Wert and Janet MacLeod of Reho Sta Marg, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
An infant son, Keith, one brother, Robert Kreischer; and a sister, Mildred Kreischer, also preceded him in death.
A memorial service to honor Mr. Kreischer's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 17, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Baptist Cemetery in Pleasant Township at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
