Bridget A. Richey, 43, of Columbus, passed away at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center Friday, November 25, 2011, at 8:25 PM. She was born July 24, 1968, to Gerald Richey and the late Monica (Schaadt) Richey. She was a 1986 graduate of Lincolnview High School, received her B.S. Degree from The Ohio State University, and attended Graduate School at Xavier University in Cincinnati. She was employed by Delta Energy in Columbus where she worked as an independent consultant.
Bridget was a member of St. Joes Catholic Church in Columbus.
She is survived by her father, Gerald Richey, of Van Wert and her siblings: Sheridan Richey of Columbus, OH, Jared (Cindy) Richey of Hilliard , OH, Adam Richey of Antwerp, OH, Patrick Richey of Middle Point, OH, and Molly (Trevor) Berryman of Middle Point, OH. Her Nieces and Nephews: Nicholas, Abigail, Brian, Catlyn, Hanna, Grace, Zachary, and Holly. Aunts and Uncles: Joan Blankemeyer, Rex (Alice) Schaadt, Bernie (Cathy) Schaadt, Marcia (Leroy) Kill, Valeria (William) Teman, Kent (Glenda) Schaadt, Gwen (Paul) Woods, Joe Richey, Bob Richey, Dave (Brenda) Richey, and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Monica Richey, her grandparents, Romy and Mary (Flaherty) Schaadt, George and Virginia (Kemerly) Richey, and a cousin, Celeste Blankemeyer.
Bridget has been staying with family since August where she has been battling breast cancer. Her battle ended just three days after the loss of her mother who was also battling breast cancer. We will miss Bridget's positive energy and determination to survive. The family appreciates all of the prayers they have been receiving through this very difficult time.
The Family will receive friends from 2-8 PM Wednesday at Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert, where the Rosary will be recited at 8:00 PM that evening.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 1, 2011, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Van Wert, with Father Stanley Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
