John R. Boyce

John R. Boyce, 88, of Van Wert, died at 4:55 PM Tuesday January 12, 2016. at Van Wert Co. Hospital.  He was born April 22, 1927,  in Rockford, Ohio,  the son of the late Roland and Esther (Heil) Boyce.  On August 4, 1947, he married the love of his life, Grace Mocabee who preceded him in death August 19, 2012.

He is survived by his children:  David (Karla) Boyce and Sandra (Jim) Sheets, all of Van Wert- Grandchildren: Lori (Tony) Tate- Craig (Angie) Sheets- Corey (Andrea) Boyce- Jennifer Boyce- Tamara (Pat) Williamson- Angela (Rob) Curtis- Amy (Tom) Limbean- 17 Great Grandchildren -1 Brother, Tom Boyce, Rockford.

Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Watkins.

John is a retired employee of the former Continental Can Co. and a member of the former Rockford Presbyterian Church.  He was an Army veteran of WW II and a member of Van Wert American Legion Post 178.  He was a former little league coach and an avid sportsman enjoying fishing, hunting bowling, and golf.  He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and was adored by his grandchildren and great-grandchilden.  He especially enjoyed traveling and visited almost all of the states.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Brickner Funeral Home with Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating.  Burial will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites rendered by the combined Honors Unit of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803.

Visitation will be from 2 - 8 PM Saturday January 16, 2016, at Brickner Funeral Home.

Preferred Memorials are to the Wounded Warriors or Van Wert Hospice Center.
